Mechano-Biology and Physics of Life (6th edition)

25/01/2024 - Grenoble (France)

Scope of the Conference

The objective of the sixth edition of "Mechano-Biology and Physics of Life" after Lyon (2016, 2019, 2022), Grenoble (2017), Clermont-Ferrand (2018) is to federate the scientific research at the interface between biology, physics and mechanics in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (AURA) region.

Confirmed keynote speakers are

  • Audrey Ferrand (IRSD Toulouse)
  • Stéphane Avril (Sainbiose, Ecole des Mines de St. Etienne)
  • Nicolas Minc (Institut Jacques Monod Paris)

The role of the mechanical properties of cells and their micro-mechanical environment on the dynamics and development of cells and tissues is an increasing research domain. Mechanobiological approaches offer new avenues for the development of new regenerative treatments or to counter uncontrolled cell proliferation in cancer. In addition to the traditional topics (tissue mechanics and development, subcellular mechanics, pathologies & cancer) which are firmly anchored in the program in the "Mechano-Biology and Physics of Life" workshop series, the workshop is intended as a spring board to identify emergent topics in mechano-biology and to incite the AURA community to develop new pioneering concepts.

Registration and Abstract Submission

Registration is open until December 8th and abstract submission is open until December 16th 2023:

There is no registration fee. Coffee during breaks and lunch is free provided for by the workshop. A limited budget is available to cover travel expenses for Master and Ph.D. students. Please contact us through email (mecanobio-grenoble(at)sciencesconf.org) to inquire about funding.

Please register first using your scienceconf or HAL login. Registered participants can then submit a contribution (poster or 12'-talk). Contributions are limited to one contribution per participant. Please note, that the preferred language of the conference is english to allow non-french participants to follow all oral presentations and to give an oral presentation. For those, who prefer to speak in french, please prepare your slides in english.

Oral presentations:

The number of slots for talks (12' talk + 3' questions) is limited. Potential speakers will be notified in late december/early January wheather their contribution has been selected for a short talk.

 Posters,  teasers & prizes:

Authors of posters will have the possibility (optional) to shortly present their poster with a teaser (2'). We specifically encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity. A limited budget for poster prizes is available...
